MILITARY LGBTQ PRIDE STRONG

Over the past decades, lgbtq-identified military service members have been embraced and shunned with policies such as the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Act (1993-2012) and same-sex marriage laws (2015). In this work, MILITARY LGBTQ PRIDE STRONG, Hopkins presents chiaroscuro-like portraits of active and veteran service members to symbolize the unity and diversity of cultures affected by these adversities; each wearing the patriotic colors of the United States and LBGTQ pride colors on their body to represent gay rights and equality for military lives.
